Interesting Times
From what I have been told, Tabitha’s pre-school have totally failed to follow established procedure for dealing with problems with special needs children. I have now written to them stating that she will no longer be attending, but that she will be starting at another mainstream facility in January. I have spoken to a lot of people about it all, and it looks like they may have reason to worry. Merry Christmas Pre-school.

Disappointments
Chris took Ellie off this morning and they had breakfast with Santa. Ellie told him she was very good, and then he asked her what she wanted for Christmas. She said “A nintendo DS”. She was a little disappointed when she went to collect a gift and it turned out to be a pink feather boa. Would have been very good value if they had given her what she asked for. I’d have been dropping in myself next weekend then!

And she’s out…..
I took Tabitha to Pre-school today and was given a letter. In it, ‘the committee’ have listed their problems with Tabitha going to pre-school, the fact that her carer has been sacked which means they will not be able to accommodate her until a replacement is appointed, CRB checked, references in, and training given, oh and they must have a raft of written policies in place to cover their own backs regarding all Tabitha’s needs. All in all, she isn’t able to start back in January. Well stuff them. She isn’t going back at all. I am getting on the phone tomorrow and getting her another place somewhere else. Somewhere where she is viewed as a special child and not a problem. Somewhere she can be valued for what she CAN do and not judged by what she can’t. Oh, and I need to get her funding pulled ASAP too, hit them in the pocket.
Tabitha is now no longer going to the Pre-school, but the headache of Tabitha will continue for some time to come. I can’t let people get away with treating her like this.

Trawling round
This week has been spent trawling round ‘local’ playgroups trying to find one that would be suitable for Tabitha to go to if we pull her out of her current setting. The one I had quite good hopes for as the leader has a disabled son, just didn’t feel all that right when we went there. One of the others I did like very much, the other was ok. I am waiting to see what is going on with her current place though as something is afoot. Her carer has not been in all week so other people have been covering, and when I’ve asked what is going on everyone has been very vague. I even texted her carer, but have had no reply. Someone did tell me we should know more this week. I guess this is the disadvantage to resigning from the committee, I don’t know what’s going on anymore. Still, as far as I know, they don’t know I have been looking at other places, so I guess we are keeping each other in the dark really. A bit like a game of poker, noone wants to show their hand first. Wish it wasn’t this way though.
